about

Dream Feeder is made up of original compositions and free improvisations. All songs were composed by me, except for “Divoc,” a quarantine duet composed for the album by Art Lande. The band collectively improvised the three Free Improvisation pieces. Much of Dream Feeder’s music is based off of ideas that surfaced upon waking, and the album unfolds much as a dream would, quickly morphing from one space to another. Each song is intended to transport the listener to a different time, place, or emotion.

“Isosceles” is a straight-ahead jazz piece that explores geometric patterns through an expanding two-note motif. “Captain Tuttle” is a song about imagination and the spirit of adventure. With His 10,000 depicts the aftermath of an ancient battle in the Book of Mormon. “Morning” paints the morning after the battle, with mist rising to reveal mass desolation, “Numbering” follows the process of counting the dead, and “Flight” represents the few survivors fleeing for their lives. “Dream Feeder” is a lullaby for my daughter Ella, and is followed by “Swordfish,” which transports the listener back to the speakeasies of the prohibition era. The album ends with “Gone Again,” which is meant to convey the bittersweet feelings of loss, when warm memories become tinged with a shade of loneliness. I hope you enjoy Dream Feeder.
